The Albemarle County (VA) Historical Society (ACHS) intends to create GIS data layers from 20th century Sanborn maps to aid in land use change studies, genealogy, and city visualization. The GIS is to deliver spatial and attribute data depicting the City of Charlottesville, Virginia in 10-year intervals, from 1900 through 1990. The proposed Charlottesville geodatabase is described in the report, including details on the database design, digitizing procedures, links to feature class metadata documents, and sample thematic maps prepared with data digitized from a sample test area. The report includes an estimate of the amount of time required to complete the project. |
